O2 Spot – The Blue Bear on a Bike — GAKA STUDIO
A blue bear, a bike, and a downhill street: that’s the starting point of “Start the year right with O2,” the spot we created for O2 with VCCP. The idea was simple and strong: convey calm, good energy, and that feeling of starting the year without noise. A smooth ride, a friendly city, and a character that already belongs to the brand’s world.
The Challenge
The challenge was a delicate one: working with a character as recognizable as O2’s blue bear and making it move naturally without losing warmth or identity. It wasn’t enough for it to simply ride downhill; it had to feel light, friendly, and believable in every shot. On top of that, the tone had to be carefully balanced: not too childish, not too epic, not too “ad-like.” Everything needed to breathe calm, charm, and that “everything’s alright” feeling the campaign called for.
Our Approach
Our approach was to aim for simplicity done properly. We built the piece around one very clean action — the bear riding downhill — and let the pacing, light, and staging do the rest. We wanted every shot to convey softness, space, and confidence without overloading the frame. As always, we worked with constant supervision throughout the process, refining visual and narrative choices until only what truly added value remained. That was the key: making something apparently simple land with exactly the right tone and feel honest.
Empezar bien el año con O2
Human-driven from start to finish: from story building and visual development to selection, refinement and final finish, every step went through human judgment. AI opened the possibilities; we set the direction, made the decisions, and brought the piece home.
